Obituary for Jo Ann Johnson
Peoria- Jo Ann Johnson, 87, of Peoria, was accompanied to heaven by a band of angels at 4:30 am on Friday, April, 28, 2017 at Heritage Health of Chillicothe surrounded by her children.
Jo Ann was born July 10, 1929, in McLeansboro, IL to Herman and Estella (Clark) Johnson. She married Herman “Jim” Johnson on November 4, 1949 in Peoria. She was proceeded in death by her husband and infant daughter.
Jo Ann is survived by her three children, Patricia (Jim) McBride of Chillicothe, Paula (Pat) Dooley of Artesia, N.M. Larry (Pava) Johnson of Peoria; seven grandchildren, Brenton McBride, Julia (McBride) Wortham, Aaron McBride, Kathrine (McBride) King, Sarah Johnson, Joshua Johnson, and Rebekah (Johnson) Foster; 17 great grandchildren; two sisters, Patsy (Johnson) Schenck of D’iberville MS, Mary Sue (Johnson) McDonald of Sequin, Tx; two brothers, James Johnson of Chillicothe and Val Gene Johnson of McLeansboro, IL.
Jo’s passion for life included, cooking, music, history, and days spent with her grandchildren. Jo also had a love for vibrant rich colors which illuminated throughout her home, from beautiful stain glass floor lamps to the warm subtle colors of her own stained glass artwork.
A funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Northwest Baptist Church. Pastor Richard Springsteen will officiate. There will be no visitation. Burial will follow at Lawnridge Cemetery in Speer, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cal Farley’s Boys Home.
