Obituary for Jeanette M. Diveley Sell

PEORIA – Jeanette M. (Diveley) Sell, 67, of Peoria passed away at 11:15 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, 2014, at home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous six-year battle with multiple myeloma cancer. Jeanette was born on Feb. 15, 1947, in Peoria to the late William H. and Celia M. (Cruise) Diveley. She married Ronald W. Sell on Feb. 17, 1968, in Peoria. He survives. She is also survived by one daughter, Jenny (Mike) Deluhery of Peoria; four sons, Jeff (Sue) Sell of Naperville, Chris (Kerry) Sell of River Edge, N.J., Terry (Molly) Sell of Chicago, and Pat (Lisa) Sell of Peoria; one sister, Barb (Michael) McCabe of Daniel Island, S.C.; and one brother, Bob (Patty) Diveley of Midland, Ga. She was loved and blessed with ten grandchildren, Collin, Maddie, Nicholas, Katie, Finnegan Annie, Kiera, Autumn, Kaelie, and Wren. Jeanette was a graduate of Peoria High School and attended a year and a half of college at Illinois State University. She worked a number of years in retail sales for Bergner’s, Carson’s, and Schradzki’s. She then went to work for Peoria School District #150 as a secretary at Franklin School (six years) and as a library manager for 23 years at the old Lincoln School on Moss Avenue and at Kingman School. She loved helping children, reading, cross-stitching, and her monthly lunches with her close friends. She set a wonderful example as a wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a parish member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Peoria. She was also a member of the St. Jude Women’s Club. Jeanette’s family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses at Illinois Cancer Care Center in Peoria, especially Holly and Dee. They would also like to thank the UnityPoint – Methodist Home Care staff, nurses Bobbi and Maribeth, and physical therapist, Nicole. Additionally they would like to thank the wonderful UnityPoint- Methodist Hospice staff. Thank you all for the loving care given to Jeanette throughout her illness. A memorial Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014, at St. Jude Catholic Church. Father Patrick Henehan will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:30-7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29, 2014, at Wright & Salmon Mortuary, with recitation of the Rosary at 4p.m. An additional visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Cremation rites have been accorded. Entombment of cremains will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Illinois Cancer Care or Look! It’s My Book, 310 E.
