Obituary for Jean "Jeannie" Anderson

PEORIA - Jean M. “Jeannie” Anderson, 89, of Peoria died on Sunday, July 15, 2012 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born February 22, 1923 in Kewanee to Ronald J. and Mary Ann (McCullough) Miller, she married Virgil A. Anderson on August 9, 1941 in Kewanee. He preceded her in death on May 12, 1995 in Peoria. Also preceding her in death are her parents; one daughter Barbara A. Appel; two grandchildren Stephanie L. Roberts and Brandon J. Roberts; and one sister Patricia Hanson. Surviving are two sons Steven J. (Terri) Anderson of Glasford and Michael A. Anderson of Peoria; three daughters Janice K.(Gail) Rollyson of Dahinda, Catherine M. (Michael) Adkins of Buffalo Grove and Mary Jo (John) Roberts of Peoria; son-in-law Stephen Appel of Phoenix, AZ;  granddaughter Allison E. (Jared) Buckardt who lovingly and generously cared for Jeannie; eighteen other grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and two sisters Lois L. Benedict of Glen Ellyn and Marita (Edwin) Ray of Peoria. Jean worked as an Oster demonstrator at Bergners, as well as a waitress at Bishop’s Buffet for sixteen years before retiring. She attended St. Bernard Catholic Church and was a member of the St. Bernard’s Mothers Club.  She was a daycare provider and a caretaker for several ailing individuals. “Jeannie” loved bike riding, redecorating and repainting her home and was an avid chocolate enthusiast. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 20, 2012 at St. Bernard Catholic Church. Father Christopher Layden will officiate. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 4:45 p.m. An additional visitation will be held 30 minutes prior to the Mass on Friday at St. Bernard Catholic Church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
