Obituary for Jane Myrna

PEORIA - Jane Myrna, 79, of Peoria passed away at 4:44 a.m. Sunday, June 14, 2015, at the family summer cottage in Chillicothe.
Jane was born on Aug. 24, 1935, in Peoria to the late John and Sherma (Eckley) Hanley. She married Dr. Theodore D. Myrna on May 25, 1968. He preceded her in death on Jan. 3, 2001.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jimmy and Bob Hanley; and a sister, Joan Hanley; and one granddaughter, Virginia Ewers.
She is survived by three daughters, Linda (Curt) Christensen of Kickapoo, Debby Myrna of Peoria, and Diane (Bill) Ewers of Peoria; one son, David (Mandy) Myrna of West Peoria; eight grandchildren, Lucas and Jack Myrna, Will, Taylor, Madilynn, and Cody Ewers, Melissa and Ted Christensen; three brothers, Jack Hanley, Joe (Pat) Hanley, and Chris (Sandy) Hanley all of Peoria,; and three sisters, Jude (Bob) Carman, Barb (Charlie) Ludolph, and Pat (Tim) Beckman all of Kickapoo.
Jane graduated from Academy of our Lady Catholic High School of Peoria in 1953 and from St. Teresa Nursing School in Kansas City, Mo. She was a well-respected nurse at OSF St Francis Medical Center for many years, where she helped open their first Hemodialysis unit. She was known for her strong patient advocate skills and served the OSF mission throughout her career. She also served in Vietnam as a nurse in 1967-1968. After marrying Ted, she devoted her life to raising her children and helping Ted run his private practice as a family practitioner. As her children grew older, she enjoyed volunteering her time and talents helping those in need, mostly at the Heartland Clinic in Peoria, where she was presented with the Clinical Volunteer of the Year award in 2000.
Jane was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
The hallmark of Janes life was her devotion to helping others, either through her work or her community of much-loved friends and family. She took great pride in her grandchildren and spent as much time as possible with them following their many activities.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 18, 2015, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Father James Pallardy will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at Wright Salmon Mortuary, with recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 p.m. An additional visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Peoria.
