Obituaries
James “Jim” Thomas Treber, 75, of East Peoria, IL passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2022, surrounded by his loving family at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. He was fortunate to have passed on the feast of St. Joseph.
He was born on August 13, 1946, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Myron “Mike” and Lucille Treber. They both preceded him in death. He married the love of his life, Vickie Couri, on January 4, 1992.
Jim is survived by his wife and their daughter Lindsay (West). He is also survived by his other children Michelle Lumberry, Michael, Marlena (Chad) Durre, and Tara, 5 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. His family and friends were the light of his life.
Jim proudly entered the United States Navy in 1966 and honorably served until 1972. Jim had many jobs including working at Caterpillar for many years as a tool and dye maker. After leaving Caterpillar, he worked as a security guard for the Par-A-Dice Riverboat, and then as a self-employed photographer.
In his retirement years, Jim greatly enjoyed fishing and tinkering with his boats. He was considered a jack-of-all-trades, as he enjoyed doing many things around the house and for his family and friends. When Jim made a friend, it was a friend for life. Jim was known to be a talker and time was not a factor in his conversations with others.
