Obituary for James L. Finn

PEORIA-James L. Finn, 90 of 1920 W. Willow Knolls Dr. in Peoria, passed away at 10:05 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2007 at the Lutheran Home. Born on October 29, 1916 in St. Louis, MO to Louis J. and Ethel Marie Eckles Finn. He married Margaret Ley on June 26, 1943 in Davisville, RI. She passed away on July 21, 1996 in Peoria. Surviving are one son, Brian (Judy) Finn of Peoria Heights; six daughters, Jamie (John) Gury of Aurora, CO, Ann (Steve) Schuette of West Lafayette, IN, Gail (Dan) Cady of Normal, Patrice (David) Cole of Peoria, Mary Beth Finn of Ziegler, IL and Laurie (Mark) Doolittle of Peoria; 17 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He first worked at Bemis Bag in San Francisco and then for Peoria Metal Specialty Co. on Washington Street. He then was a Sales Rep. for the last 10 or 12 years before retirement for various companies in Central Illinois. He was a World War II Navy Seabees veteran, serving in the South Pacific. He was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church and Choir. He also was a member of the Orpheus Club for over 50 years and served as President. He was a graduate of Bradley University and a member of the Chiefs Club. He enjoyed singing, music recording and sound systems, and Bradley Basketball. Member of the Ivy Club and enjoyed sailing and power boating. A Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Mark’s Church with Rev. Charles Klamut officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Monday at Wright & Salmon Mortuary with a Scripture Service at 7 p.m. Additional visitation will be 30 minutes before the mass at the church. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to Orpheus Club of Peoria or St. Mark’s Church. Tributes and condolences may be submitted to
