Obituary for James "Jim" W Nellas
James (Jim) W. Nellas, 61, of Peoria, IL passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at his home.
Jim was born on July 23, 1956 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. He leaves to cherish his memory the love of his life, Margie K. (Zindt) Nellas, whom he married on September 22, 1979 in Peoria, IL.
Surviving Jim is his daughter, Nicole E. Nellas, her fiancé, Anthony M. Morales, and his one grandson, Cameron James Nellas, all to whom he was an extremely devoted husband, father and grandpa. Jim is also survived by his mother, Joanne Nellas of Peoria, IL; his sisters, Martha Delzell of Canton, IL and Vicki (Richard) Seaman of Dacula, GA, as well as his sister-in-law Jean (Bob) Hallam of East Peoria, IL; brothers-in-law Bob (Gina) Zindt of Peoria, IL and John (Jan) Zindt of Lumberton, TX, in addition to several nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Thomas L. Nellas, and his mother and father-in-law, Bob and Eileen Zindt. Also preceding in death were his grandparents and several aunts and uncles.
Everyone who knew Jim knew of his lifetime interest in Chicago sports, in particular the Chicago Cubs. One of his favorite pastimes second only to spending quality time with his grandson was sitting in Wrigley Field with his friends watching a game.
Funeral services will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 11:00am with a visitation preceding the services from 9:00-11:00am at the church. Cremations rites will be accorded with a private family burial at a later date.
