Obituary for James (Jim) M. Tedford, Jr.

PEORIA- With the support of the OSF Hospice staff, and the loving care of his family, James M. Tedford, Jr. (Jim) passed away peacefully in his home on Easter morning, April 8, 2012. James Madison Tedford, Jr was born on April 28, 1934 in Memphis, TN the son of James M. and Josephine (Guinee) Tedford, Sr. He married Cecelia Ann Beckfeld on May 17, 1958 in Peoria. She survives. Other family surviving include two sons, James (Terri) Tedford III of Folsom, CA and John (Shannon) Tedford of Peoria; two sisters, JoAnn Newberg of Phoenix, AZ and Mary Jane Slavens of Peoria; seven grandchildren, Megan, Matthew, Sarah, Anna, Michael, Noah, and Will. He was preceded by his son Joseph and his parents. Jim was a beloved husband, brother, father, and grandfather. He graduated from Spalding Institute (1952) and the University of Notre Dame (1956) with a degree in Finance. He served in the US Navy from 1956 to 1959. He held various management positions at Caterpillar Inc, where he worked for 30 years retiring in 1990. Jim was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Peoria Hgts, the Mt. Hawley Country Club, and was an active participant in Alcoholics Anonymous for the last 20 years. A Funeral Mass will be at 10 AM, Saturday, April 14, 2012 at the Resurrection Mausoleum Chapel. Franciscan Fathers will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Arrangements through Wright & Salmon Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army or OSF Hospice.
