Obituary for James J. Carr

James J. Carr 73 of Bartonville died Wednesday at 5:34 pm December 27, 2006 at his residence. Born June 6, 1933 in Peoria to Harold J. and Catherine M. Timmerman Carr. He first married Carol J. Strunk on February 12, 1955 in Tiskilwa. She passed away in Orlando, FL. He then married Marianne Schwerer Gregg in Peoria. She passed away in Peoria. Surviving are four children; Kathleen Peck of Springfield, IL., Kelly( and Greg “Groucho”) Marks of Chillicothe, Kevin “Casey” (and Elizabeth) Carr of Peoria, Kerry (and Curtis) Baum of Morton; seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and two step-great grandchildren; two sisters Patricia (and Phil) Hannon of Lake Bluff, IL, and Colleen McLinden of Peoria, one beloved aunt Madeline Snedden of Peoria and several cousins. He was a former member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a retired union plumber working out of Plumbers Local #63 for 52 years where he was a member of its executive board and JATC. He was past commander and lifetime member of VFW Post #2602 in Peoria Heights. A lifetime member of Peoria AMVETS and Peoria American Legion. Memberships in Chillicothe Rec Club, Radnor Rod and Gun Club, Whitecap Drifters Boat Club, and Escapees RV Club. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved Rving. A memorial service will be held Tuesday 11:00 am at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. Rev Stephen Barch officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services. Cremation rites will be accorded. Burial of ashes will be in Chillicothe City cemetery will military rites. Memorials may be made to Oncology/Hematology Association of Central Illinois or to American Heart Association.
