Obituary for James E Schaumburg

Peoria-James E. Schaumburg, 70, of Peoria, passed away at 10:22 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2009, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. He was born January 1, 1939, in Aurora, IL, to Ferdinand E. and Doris J. Ogilvie Schaumburg. He married Joan M. Harris on April 29, 1961, in Peoria and she survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Becky (Marcus) Hightower of Peoria Heights; three sons, James E. (Jennifer) Schaumburg Jr. of Colona, IL, Jeffrey M. (Renee) Schaumburg of Holts Summit, Missouri, and Scott A. (Anne) Schaumburg of West Peoria. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, Marcus Hightower Jr., Jessica and Angie Schaumburg, Jeffrey and Andrew Schaumburg, Ryan, Lauren, Cassidy, Abigail, and Emma Schaumburg. Also surviving is one sister, Pat (Jim) VanDeVeer of Arkansas along with numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his Parents and two sisters. Jim was an engineer for 35 years for the Peoria & Pekin Union Railroad, retiring in 1990. Jim’s greatest passion were his grandkids and being involved with their activities. He also enjoyed gardening, camping, and being outdoors. Jim was an avid Dodger’s fan and loved railroading and remained active with his Railroad Retirement Group. Jim was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Peoria Heights where a Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, with Rev. Thomas Taylor and Rev. Charles Klamut officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at St. Thomas Church. There will be a Rosary 7:45 p.m. Additional visitation will be 30 minutes before the service on Wednesday. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Tributes and condolences can be submitted to
