Obituary for James D. Schraeder

PEORIA-James “Don” D. Schraeder, 100, of Peoria, passed away at 2:29 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2011, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, ER. He was born on August 22, 1910, in Milks Grove, IL, to Frederic A. and Eva Marie Roth Schraeder. He married Catherine Hunt Lyon on June 28, 1941, in Peoria. She passed away on January 17, 2000, in Washington, IL. He was also preceded in death by one son, Milton; one granddaughter; three brothers; and three sisters. Don is survived by four sons, Robert D. Lyon of Peoria, Edward J. (Eileen) Schraeder of Peoria, Thomas L. (Cheryl) Schraeder of Mahomet, IL and Richard A. Schraeder of Peoria; three daughters, Susan Lyon Widmer of Washington, IL, Donna Eileen (Paul) Curry of Mossville and Eva Marie Daily of Indianapolis, IN; daughter-in-law, Deborah Schraeder of Peoria; twenty-six grandchildren; forty-seven great-grandchildren; seven great great-grandchildren; two brothers, Adrian Schraeder of Chehalis, WA and Fred Schraeder of Springfield, IL; and one sister, Genevieve Heinz of East Peoria. Don was a clerk at T.P. &W. Railroad where he worked for 45 years. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Spalding Council #427, Third Degree and a lifetime member of Peoria Casting Club. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2011, at St. Bernard Church with Msgr. Stanley L. Deptula officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday at Wright & Salmon Mortuary with recitation of the Rosary at 6:45 p.m. Additional visitation will be 30 minutes before the Mass at the church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Augustine Manor or St. Philomena Athletic Committee. Tributes and condolences may be submitted to
