PEORIA - James M. Coogan Sr., 90, of Peoria, passed away on February 5, 2013 at 7:30 a.m. at OSF St. Clare Home. James was born July 19, 1922 in Bloomington, IL to Paul and Elizabeth (Shields) Coogan. He married Eileen O’Brien on November 30, 1946 in Peoria. She passed away November 29, 2003 in Peoria. One son, Paul, and three sisters, Mary Jane Coogan, Anne Wombacher and Virginia “Binny” Crouse, also preceded him in death. He is survived by two sons, James (Annie Laurie) Coogan Jr. of Santa Fe, NM, and Thomas (Belinda Chambika) Coogan of Alexandria, VA; two daughters, Sheila (Michael) Caminiti of Winston-Salem, NC, and Christy (John) Frampton of Dunlap; two brothers, Paul (Joanne) Coogan of Peoria, and Dr. Philip (Joan) Coogan of Franklin, TN; one sister, Catherine (Robert) Ward of Boling Green, KY; grandchildren, Caitlin, Michael, Devin, and Mairead Coogan, Joseph and Jeana Caminiti, and Johnny, Tommy, and Liz Frampton; and many nieces and nephews. James graduated from Spalding Academy in 1940 and then from Notre Dame in 1944 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He served in the US Army during World War II. He later went on to work at Aggregate Equipment and Supply Co. in Peoria, starting as store manager and later retired as the rental manager. He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m., Thursday, February 14, 2013 at St. Thomas Daily Mass Chapel. Father Thomas Taylor will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7 p.m., following the visitation at the mortuary. An additional visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society.
