PEORIA – James “Jim” Carroll, 70, of Peoria passed away at 2:42 a.m. Saturday, April 4, 2015, at his home. Jim was born on April 15, 1944, in Ottawa, IL, to the late Orville and Margaret (Schiefling) Carroll. He married Marguerite “Maggie” Bencher on Jan. 4, 1969, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Peoria. She survives. He is also survived by six children, Bob (Michelle) Carroll of Sacramento, CA, Maureen (Phil) Landwehr of St. Louis, MO, Jimmy Carroll of Peoria, Molly (Brian) Sommers of Commerce, MI, Amy (Brian) Miller of Peoria, and Katie (Charlie) May of Avon, IN; and 15 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Jim served in the US Navy as a Seabee during Vietnam. He worked as a plumber through Local 63 for 50 years. A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 9, 2015, at St. Philomena Catholic Church. Fr. David Richardson will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 -l 7pm on Wednesday, April 8th, at Wright & Salmon Mortuary with a recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. An additional visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass at St. Philomena. Cremation rites will be accorded following the Mass. Private burial of ashes will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Heart of Illinois Special Recreation, attn: Jim Carroll Memorial.
