Obituary for James Allen "Jim" Matheny
EAST PEORIA – James Allen “Jim” Matheny, 73, of East Peoria passed away at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2016, at his residence.
Jim was born on Jan. 9, 1943, in Greensburg, Ind., to the late James A. and Mary M. (Foley) Matheny.
He is survived by one son James Edward Matheny of Taloga, Okla.; three granddaughters, Kourtney Lane Matheny, Angelina Kathlene Matheny, and Raegan Lea Perkins; one great-grandson, Elijah James Matheny; and one aunt, Pat (Ralph) Smith of Sterling, Kans.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Tom Matheny.
Jim was an Army veteran. He worked as a truck driver for Lane’s Motor Fright Lines. He also worked as a rig up hand in the oil fields of northwest Oklahoma and Texas.
He loved listening to Rush Limbaugh and Paul Harvey and enjoyed hanging out with his friends at the bar.
Jim was a good man and was loved by many. He will be remembered as a hard worker and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016, at Resurrection Mausoleum. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the mausoleum. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
