Obituary for Jacqueline Joan Nau

Peoria- Jacqueline Joan Nau, age 88, of Peoria, passed away at 12:37 a.m. on Friday, August 27, 2021 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.

Born August 21, 1933 in Peoria, a daughter to Charles and Mildred (Griffin) Sutter. On October 28, 1950 she married Joseph Frederick Nau in Peoria and together they cherished 68 years until his passing on January 7, 2019. A homemaker all her life, Jacqueline was a proud and devoted mother to her 11 children. She enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, playing games and putting puzzles together. Jacqueline was a Minnesota Viking fan especially their costumes. She enjoyed going out to eat with her family especially for fried fish, pizza or Chinese. One of Jacquelines favorite pass times was fishing with her family which always ended up going to the Par-A-Dice Casino where, more often than not, she had lady luck on her side. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister and aunt who was a strong fighter, dearly loved and will be deeply missed.

Survivors include eight children: Catherine (Harry) Pate of Newnon, GA, Mary (Dennis) Walsh of Emden, IL, Fred (Mary Ann) Nau of Mapleton, IL, Beth (Jack) Rudd of Glasford, IL, Matt Nau of Peoria, Bill (Rose) Nau of Peoria, Eric (Stacey) Nau of Chillicothe and Tom Nau of Peoria; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren;as well as many nieces and nephews.

Jacqueline was preceded in death by her husband Joseph, parents, three sons: Joe Robert, Daniel Lee Bernard Nau, two sisters: Patricia Hoey and Donita Goins, one brother Charles Sutter.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 30, 2021 from 4:00 PM until funeral services at 6:00 PM at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. Creamtion rights will follow and burial of ashes will follow in Resurrection Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials in Jacqueline’s memory may be made to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate.
