Obituary for Jackie Middleton Skender
East Peoria- Jackie Middleton Skender, age 76, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, surrounded by her loving family. While her heart may have been physically weak, she was a woman with a huge emotional heart full of love and faith.
Jackie was born October 30, 1941 in Chicago, IL., the daughter of John E. “Jack” and Paula (Boldys) Middleton. She married John E. Skender, May 6, 1961 at St. John’s Catholic Church on the South Side of Peoria. They were happily married for 56 years and an example of love for us all.
Survivors include Jackie’s husband, John, four children; John D. (Cindy) Skender of Peoria, Jeff A. Skender of Springfield, Jill S. Krummel of Franklin, TN., and Jennifer S. (Jim) Christian, eight grandchildren; Courtney Alexander, Katy (Brian) Lavin, both of Peoria, Elizabeth Skender of Chicago, John Nicholas Skender of Peoria, Madalyn and Michaela Krummel of Murfreesboro, TN., and Bailey and Sam Christian of Peoria and six great-grandchildren all of whom she loved and adored.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Jackie attended St. Brides Grade School on the South Side of Chicago and graduated from Farmington High School. She was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Peoria and was active and devoted to the Cursillo community because of the many miracles she experienced, which changed her life forever. She worked in the Trust Department at First National Bank for 17 years and worked as a secretary at the Peoria Cursillo Center for many years before retiring in December of 2016. She was well known as the “Jackie of all Trades.”
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 AM Saturday, November 11, 2017 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church. Visitation will be 4:00 -7:00 PM Friday, November 10, 2017, with a Scripture Service at 7:00 PM at the church. Further visitation will be a half hour before the Mass. Msgr. Brian Brownsey will officiate and Entombment will follow in Resurrection Mausoleum.
