Obituary for Jack Dries, Sr.

Peoria- John J. “Jack” Dries, Sr, age 88, of West Peoria, passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at UnityPoint Methodist in Peoria.

Jack was born on July 28, 1932 in Chicago, IL, a son of George W. and Bernadine (Gerten) Dries.

Jack proudly served in the US Army during the Korean conflict. He was a plumber working for Dries Brothers Plumbing for many years. He was in the Plumbers Local Union 63 for over 69 years. Jack attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kickapoo, IL and enjoyed bowling, golf, softball and playing cards. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He also enjoyed attending his grandkids sporting events.

Jack is survived by six children, Jack (Joy) Dries, Jr, Beth (John) Meister, Debbie (Jack) Siegel, Cyndi (Chris) Polhemus, Tim Caughey and Dennis (Kim) Caughey, 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and first wife, Mary Buchanan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, life companion, Connie Caughey, former wife, Linda Hill, daughter, Terri Dries, three brothers and one sister.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, March 12, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kickapoo, IL. Fr. Joseph Dondanville will officiate and burial will follow at Swan Lake Memory Gardens. Please follow all COVID regulations by wearing masks and social distancing.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Illinois Cancer Care or St. Jude Midwest Affiliate.
