Obituary for "Irish" Pearce

Peoria-John W. "Irish" Pearce of Peoria passed away Friday, May 8, 2009, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. He was born May 19, 1921, in La Salle to Frank and Margaret Gibbons Pearce. He married Jacquelyn Atteberry Ehrat on May 19, 1979 in Peoria and she survives. Also surviving are three sons, David(Cyndie) Pearce and Steven(Trina) Pearce both of Rockford, and Scott (Gwen) Pearce of Las Vegas, Nevada. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren. There are also 7 step great grandchildren surviving. Irish was preceded in death by one brother, Edmund Pearce and one sister, Phyllis B. DiGellonardo. He was an electrical discharge machinist at Ingersoll Milling Machine Co. in Rockford,retiring in 1982. He also served as a Deputy Sheriff in Winnebago County. He was a WW 2 Navy veteran serving in the South Pacific and the Philippines. Irish was a member of the American Legion Peoria Post #2, Holy Family Catholic Church, Timberlake Club and Golf League, and past President of Harlem Music Boosters Club in Loves Park, Ill. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Church, with Franciscan Friars officiating. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. Additional visitation will be 30 minutes before the Mass on Thursday at Church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church.
