Obituary for Henry "Hank" Huser

EAST PEORIA-Henry F. "Hank" Huser, 89 of East Peoria, Illinois died at 2:55 a.m., Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Snyder Village Health Center in Metamora. IL. He was born on November 16, 1922 in East Peoria to Charles and Della (Graue) Huser. He married H. Claire Coyle in Peoria on November 25, 1950. She preceded him in death on February 6, 2007. He was also preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters. He is survived by three daughters, Kathleen Stinson, Patricia Meismer, and Barbara (Gary) Anna, all of Morton, IL; three sons, Michael (Melinda) Huser of Spring Bay, IL, Steven (Karen) Huser of Delafield, WI, and John (Judith) Huser of Morton, IL; nine grandchildren, Steven and David (fiancée, Rachael Lewis) Anna, Elizabeth (Jason) Galster and Emily Stinson, Travis, Timothy, and Trevor Huser, and Sarah and Sydney Huser; one great grandchild, Madison Cruz; and two sisters, Carrie Parod of Royal Palm Beach, Florida and Esther Washbond of Mossville, IL. Hank served honorably in the U.S. Air Force during World War II as a radio operator in the Pacific. He was part of a small special unit of handpicked men who flew into Atsugi Airfield on August 28, 1945 to establish an emergency communication base in Japan preceding the arrival of the United States occupational troops. He received numerous decorations and citations. He was employed at Couch & Heyle in East Peoria for forty-three years until retiring in 1987. He later worked at Hagerty Steel in East Peoria. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Peoria, IL for over 60 years, a longtime church trustee and a member of it's Men's Club. Hank worked in the St. Bernard Food Pantry throughout his retirement. He served as a board of trustee member of Snyder Village Health Center for over 10 years. Hank was an avid golfer, beloved family man and always loved telling a good joke. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Bemard Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 23, 2011. Rev. Christopher Layden will officiate. Visitation will be at St. Bernard Catholic Church from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the Memorial Mass on Wednesday. Cremation rites have been accorded. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum with private family services. Memorials may be made to St. Bemard Catholic Church or to Snyder Village Health Center in Metamora, IL.
