Obituary for Helen Dean Andros
PEORIA – Helen Dean Andros, 92, of Peoria, formerly of El Paso, Tex., passed away at 8:40 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, at Heritage Health in Chillicothe. Helen was born on Feb. 12, 1922, in Peoria to Peter and Mary (Kutsos) Xanos. She married Dean C. Andros on Jan. 28, 1943, in Peoria. He preceded her in death on Apr. 24, 1982. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her twin brother, Gus Xanos; her sisters, Bessie Trilikis and Nicoletta Chiames; brother, Ted Xanos; brothers-in-law, Pete Trilikis and George Chiames; sister-in-law, Stella Xanos; and one niece. Georgia Weber. She is survived by her two daughters, Athena (Gus) Kontos of Peoria and Adrienne (Spiros) Ninos of El Paso, Tex., with whom she lived for 18 years. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Alayna (Dax Louderman) Kontos and Nick (Virginia Nazos) Kontos, and Christopher (Pamela) Ninos; and five great-grandchildren, Isabella Kontos, Nicholas and Zoe Louderman, and Helena and Isabel Ninos, all of whom she adored. She also leaves behind her very special nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank all of the staff at both Heritage Health and Vitas Hospice for the wonderful care and devotion they showed her. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, at All Saints Greek Orthodox Church. Rev. Dr. Ciprian Sas and Fr. Habib Ghantous will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at Wright & Salmon Mortuary, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery.
