Obituary for Harry L. "Buddy" Alexander, Jr.
Harold L. “Buddy” Alexander Jr., 78, of Germantown Hills, IL passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at his home.
Harry was born November 29, 1943 in Peoria, IL to Harold Sr. and June Burton Alexander. His parents preceded him in death, along with a sister Mary Jo, two brothers George and Tim and an infant son, Todd.
He married Terry Coughenour on March 22, 1963 in Creve Coeur, IL. She survives along with their 3 sons; Troy (Cary McKee) of Peoria Heights, Trent (Tonya Watson) of East Peoria and Trevor (Kathie Bilica) of Germantown Hills, 12 grandchildren: Chris (Erin Sullivan), Molly (Nick Fricano), Abby (Danny Radosavlyev), Jake (Shelby Steger),
Anna, Lily, Bella, Courtney, Caleb, Connor, Emily and Andrew, and 10 great-grandchildren: Ava, Ethan, Mia, Dominic, Finley, Claire, Leo, Logan, Bennett Elizabeth and Kona Jane as well as one sister Gloria Berg and one brother Tom Alexander.
Harry loved the boys so much and was a great father. Then came along 12 beautiful grandchildren that were so in love with “Grandpa.” The memories that could be told about all the trips to Disney World would fill many books. Harry and Terry looked forward to each grandchild turning 6, so they could make the trip to Disney World. The grandson who is 5 now, knew the planning was in the works, but God had different plans. We will all share and cherish these blessed memories.
Harry worked most of his life at Harold’s Auto Upholstery and retired from OSF St. Francis Medical Center Lab. He loved being outdoors, gardening, being in his yard and fishing. Harry had an avid love of sports and enjoyed coaching many, many family members over the years. His love for horses got him into harness racing for years. Harry and Terry loved to cruise the world. Their first cruise was in 2000 and they took at least one cruise every year, if not 2!
Funeral Mass will be at 12 noon on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM until time of Mass, also at the church. Msgr. Jason Gray will officiate and burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Peoria.
Family requests no flowers please. Memorials may be made to Ronald McDonald House, 401 NE Monroe St. Peoria, IL, 61603 or to St. Thomas Church, 904 E Lake Ave., Peoria Heights, IL, 61616.
