Peoria-Harold W. “Bud” Gough, 83, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at OSF St. Francis Medical, surrounded by his family that loved and adored him.
Harold was born April 20, 1937 in Peoria, IL, a son of Walter and Catherine (Motley) Gough. He married Sharon George on May 14, 1960 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Peoria. She survives. Also surviving are their five children, Randy (Karen Pittman) Gough, Cindy (Doug) Heuermann, Tina (Thomas) Welsh, Tim (Barbara) Gough and Lynn (Gary) Hodskins, 12 grandchildren, Nick (Bridget), Rachel, Taylor (Joseph), Sarah, Katelyn, Tommy, Nathan, Benjamin, Matthew, James, Carolyn and Elizabeth, two great-grandchildren, Lydia and Adler, as well as twin brother, Robert (Patricia) Gough, brothers-in-law Fred George and John (Mary) George and numerous nieces and nephews.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents and sisters-in-law, Judy McClanahan and Mary George.
Harold graduated from Woodruff High School and proudly served in the US Army from 1960-1963, where he was deployed to Germany. Upon returning to the states, he began his career working at WABCO, Komatsu. He started in the mail room, advancing to Blueprint Department Supervisor, working for 50 years and retiring in 2007.
Harold was an outdoorsman, always working in his yard and he would never refuse a fishing trip. He loved to bowl, watch Nascar, watch Notre Dame football and he fiercely supported his Chicago Bears, win or lose.
Most important to Harold was family. He loved doing anything that involved his grandchildren. His favorite pastime was attending any event they participated in. He will be missed on the side lines.
He was an amazing man that was patient, gentle, slow to anger, devoted and funny. He believed humor was important in life and we will all miss his witty comments.
A visitation will be held from 4-6 PM on Monday, December 21, 2020 at St. Philomena Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 with a 30-minute prior visitation at the church. Fr. David Richardson will officiate and burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Peoria, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Harold’s name to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate, 4722 N. Sheridan Rd., Peoria, IL 61614.
