Obituary for Glenn K Brown

PEORIA – Glenn K. Brown, 86, of Eustis, FL and Peoria, died peacefully at 5:35 a.m., March 21, 2013. Glenn was born on November 7, 1926 in Peoria Township, the son of Richard P. and Josephine Brown. Glenn married Madelyn K. Rakeshaw on March 17, 1951 in Peoria. She preceded him in death on January 24, 2013 in Mt. Dora, FL. He was also preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by one brother, Lee (Betty) Brown of Tampa, FL; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Glenn graduated from Peoria Manual High School in 1944. After graduating, he went to work for Caterpillar Tractor Company in Peoria. Taking leave from Caterpillar, he joined the US Marine Corp, serving four years and was honorably discharged in June 1949.He was a proud member of the China Marine Association and attended many of their reunions. Upon his discharge from the military, he returned to Caterpillar and spent over 35 years working in Peoria, Aurora, IL, and Belgium. In 1986, after he and Madelyn retired from Caterpillar, they moved to Eustis, FL. They traveled extensively through Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, and Alaska. They made many friends during their travels and will be remembered by all. Glenn and Madelyn also followed NASCAR. Their favorite drivers were Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Dale Jr. Funeral Mass will be Noon, Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Resurrection Mausoleum. Rev. Christopher Layden will officiate. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the Mass. Military rites will be accorded. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Tributes and condolences may be submitted to
