Obituary for Glenn Edward Perdue

Peoria- Glenn Edward Perdue, age 91, of Peoria, passed away at 12:28 AM on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Unity Point Proctor Hospital.

He was born April 20, 1925 in Abingdon, IL to Guy and Evelyn (Roth) Perdue. Glenn graduated from Woodruff High School in 1943 and enlisted in the US Navy the very next day. He was assigned active duty in the South Pacific, and proudly served his country aboard the USS Intrepid during WWII. Returning home from the service he married the great love of his life Mari Lou Sommers in 1945. They remained together for 70 years until her passing in 2015. He is also preceded in death by his brothers Bob and Don.

After attending Bradley University, Glenn created a life and legacy of family, music, and golf. A member of the Mid- Westernairs Quartet, he directed barber shop choruses for 25 years. As a second generation piano tuner Glenn reminded the community “There Ain’t Many of US Good Tuners Left.” Glenn was an accomplished golfer winning the Inaugural Men’s Senior City Tournament in 1989, and again in 1997.

Survivors include four children, Lynn E. Trabuco of Canyon, CA, Valerie K. (Gary) Welch of Peoria, Renee (Juan) Gutierrez of Sarasota, FL, and Darcy (Dave) Seiler of Peoria; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Glenn lived a full and complete life, and those things he loved will carry on through his family who adore him, and believe that Mari Lou, after a short time apart, anxiously awaits him with open arms.

Cremation rights have been accorded. A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday April 01, 2017 between the hours of 1:00 PM till 4:00 PM at Wright & Salmon Mortuary with a military service at 4:00 PM.
