Obituary for Gladys L. "Glady" Muvdi

Peoria- Gladys L. “Glady” Muvdi of Peoria, passed away peacefully at 5:25 AM on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 with her loving daughter by her side.

She was born in Syracuse, NY, the daughter of Naif and Nihai Abdo. She married Dr. Bichara (Charlie) Muvdi of January 26, 1952 and was his loving wife for 68 years. Gladys was a member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church for over 40 years where, for a period, she served as member of its Board of Directors. She also served as member and Officer of its Holy Cross organization during the entire period that she was a church member. Gladys was also a member of the St. Elias Antiochian Orthodox Church which she, along with her husband, helped to establish and served for many years. She was a very active member of both churches.

Gladys was a volunteer at Methodist Medical Center serving as a member of its Lady’s Auxiliary for many years. She was also a volunteer at Proctor Community Hospital serving as a member of the Lady’s Auxiliary, during which time she served as chairperson of a few of the Auxiliary’s committees, including the Chairperson of the Hospitality committee for two years. She was an active member of Bradley University Women’s Club and served on many of its committees. Gladys served as PTA member at Rolling Acres Elementary School and Richwoods High School while her three children were in attendance.

Most importantly Gladys was a friendly and kind person, never knowing a stranger and was always the light of the room bringing joy and gladness to all her friends. During her last year at Heartis, she cherished and looked forward to the weekly care packages her loving daughter sent her and enjoyed the numerous memories of the caregivers coming to her apartment for candy and socializing. She was a loving mother who was adored, dearly loved by many, and will be deeply missed.

Survivors include: her devoted daughter Patti Moya of Chicago; son Dr. Charles Muvdi of Reading, PA and three grandchildren.

Gladys was preceded in death by her Husband Charlie and one daughter Katherine J. Muvdi.
