Obituary for Geraldine Gilles
Brimfield- Geraldine Gilles, 90, of Brimfield, IL, passed away at 1:40 PM on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at her residence.
She was born August 17, 1926 in Peoria to Gerald and Monica (Ulrich) Schneblin. Geraldine married John Gilles on February 19, 1949 at St. Mark Catholic Church in Peoria. He preceded her in death on October, 19, 2011.
Geraldine was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and the St. Mary’s Quilting Club. She will be remembered as a wonderful seamstress and for her passion of sewing. She was an avid reader as well as a wonderful cook. Geraldine will truly be missed by many.
Geraldine is survived by three children, Mary Ellen (Kevin) Sronce of Springfield, Jo Ann Boles of Peoria Heights, and Michael (Lisa) Gilles of Kickapoo; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Delores Mugavero of Peoria and Sally Dunkin of Blue Springs, KS; one brother Terry (Mary) Pyatt of Bartonville.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son Gerald P. Gilles.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 13, 2017 from 9:00 AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church in Kickapoo, IL. Fr. Joseph Dondanville will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery in Kickapoo, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Geraldine’s honor to Muscular Dystrophy Association or Brimfield Fire and Rescue.
