Obituaries
Gerald “Jerry” Patrick Hobin, 86, passed away at 8:48 a.m. on January 31, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.
Jerry was born the son of Virgil “Jack” and Eleanor Hobin in Peoria on March 17, 1934. He married Patricia White on November 29, 1958 but she tragically passed away in 1967. He married Mary Eileen Hobin (Judd) on June 28, 1969 at St. Philomena. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Shelia O’Donnell, his son James and daughter-in-law Kim. Surviving are his wife Eileen, four sons, David (Cheryl) of Peoria, Robert of Peoria, Daniel (Beth) of Washington and Michael (Cara) of Edwardsville. Also surviving are six grandchildren, David “Joey”, Justin, Cody, Shane, Darby and Sinead along with five great grandchildren.
He graduated from Spalding Institute in 1953. Jerry served in the U.S. Army in Korea from 1954 to 1956 and was honorably discharged. He graduated from Coyne Electrical School in 1957 and then worked as an electrician at the P&PU Railroad for over forty years. Jerry and Eileen were Bradley basketball season ticket holders for over 40 years. He treasured family vacations to Florida. In later years, Jerry and Eileen enjoyed bicycling. He was a member of Holy Family and St. Philomena Parishes during his life.
Cremation rights have been accorded and a memorial service will take place this summer on a date to be announced.
