Obituary for Gerald "Jerry" Osmulski
Gerald J. “Jerry” Osmulski, 80, of Peoria, IL passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at OSF Medical Center with his family by his side.
Jerry was born December 25, 1942, in Hammond, IN to Joseph and Mary (Pisowicz) Osmulski. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sally (Popielewski), four children, Brian of Mapleton, IL, Kim (Don) Johnson of Washington, IL, Scott (Teresa) of Elmwood, IL, and Eric (Jamie) of West Peoria, IL, 12 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
Jerry moved to Peoria in 1967 and opened a neighborhood grocery store “Jerry’s Market” in West Peoria in 1968. Later, he was a meat cutter and shop manager at Raber Packing Company for 30 years.
Though Jerry was a dedicated business owner and employee, his true passions were his family and his Catholic faith. Jerry was an active parishioner of St. Mark Catholic Church for 56 years, where he served as Sacristan for 15 years, and taught CCD classes for 10 years.
Jerry was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. His grandchildren were the true joy and happiness in his life. He could always be found attending his grandchildren’s academic and sporting events, showing his support and always providing the perfect example of what it means to be an outstanding grandfather. He will be dearly missed.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at St. Mark Church, with visitation one hour before the service. Cremation Rites will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jerry’s memory may be made to St. Mark Parish in Peoria, IL.
