EAST PEORIA-George W. Reither, Sr., 81, of East Peoria and formerly of Peoria, passed away at 8:20 p.m. on Sunday, November 9, 2008 at Manor Care at Riverview. He was born on January 26, 1927 in St. Louis, MO to George W. and Matilda A. Thiemann Reither. He married Mary Lu Edwards on February 27, 1954 in Granite City, IL. She survives. He is also survived by three sons, George W. (Marianne) Reither of Easley, SC, Edward M. Reither of Lexington, IL and Thomas E. (Lynn) Reither of Peoria; two daughters, Sharon (Ron) Rochester of Peoria and Mandy Heerman of Creve Coeur; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister. George was a Metal Pattern Maker at Caterpillar, Inc. where he worked for 30 years, retiring in 1987. He served as a radio mechanic in the US Army from 1945-1946 and served in the Air National Guard from October 1949 until 1952. He was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church and Pattern Makers Union of America. A Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2008 at St. Mark’s Church with Rev. Charles Klamut officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday at Wright & Salmon Mortuary and 30 minutes before the mass at the church. Cremation rites will be accorded after the mass.
