Obituary for Genny Hinchman

Genevieve Virginia (Stenoish) Hinchman, 92, of Peoria, passed away on Monday, January 3, 2022 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL.

Genny was born on March 20, 1929 to Theodore and Mary (Beisel) Stenoish in Madrid, Iowa. She was raised by her Uncle Adolph and Aunt Winifred Stenoish of Peoria.

Genny graduated from the Academy of our Lady and received her Registered Nursing degree from OSF Saint Francis College of Nursing in Peoria. On July 28, 1951, she married Rodney Wayne Hinchman at St. Mary’s Cathedral. They were married for 61 years and were blessed with four surviving children: Michael Hinchman of Dunlap, David (Trish) Hinchman of Davenport, Iowa, Patricia (Alex) McIntosh of St. Charles, Missouri and Jo (Matt) Garrison of Dunlap. She leaves behind ten grandchildren, Dan, Brent, Lauren, Jenny, Angie, Greg, Jeff, Dylan, Conner and Derek as well as 13 great grandchildren and one on the way.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rodney in 2012, her parents, her aunt and uncle, sister, Marie (Stenoish) Campbell and her brother, Theodore Stenoish.

Genny lived life to the fullest and family was most important to her. She worked as a RN at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center for many years primarily on the neurologic unit. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, St. Thomas Women’s Guild and bowling team, as well as the Emblem Club and Cancer League golf teams. She served many years as an election judge in the Peoria area and belonged to several card clubs. Her family loved her deeply and she will truly be missed.

Private services will be held with the immediate family at Wright and Salmon Mortuary with Father Thomas Taylor on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held in June 2022.
