Obituary for Genevieve P. Megan

HANNA CITY-Genevieve P. Megan, 78, of Heyworth and formerly of Hanna City, passed away at 5:22 p.m. on Sunday, April 5, 2009 at her residence. She was born on February 22, 1931 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Clarence and Agnes Hlina Heaverlo. She married William J. Megan in Marion, Iowa. He passed away on January 29, 2001 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Kevin Stear, three brothers and two sisters. She is survived by six daughters, Cindy (Chuck) Paul of Wichita, KS, Debra (Kelly) Short of Evergreen, CO, Marcie Langenbahn of Bloomington, IL, Tracey Domaszewicz of Pekin, IL, Kim (Joseph) Jones of Heyworth, IL and Jo (Steve) Johnson of Edwardsville, IL; thirteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Heaverlo and Richard (Jean) Heaverlo both of Cedar Rapids, IA; two sisters, Agnes Darrow and Betty Gearhart both of Cedar Rapids, IA; her brother-in-law, Tom Megan of Cedar Rapids, IA; many nieces and nephews and her loving dog, Keri. Genevieve worked at Northwestern Bell in Cedar Rapids, later working for Collins Radio and after her marriage became a homemaker. She was a volunteer at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kickapoo of which she was a member. She also enjoyed gardening, quilting and spending time with her grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at St. Mary’s Church in Kickapoo with Rev. Patrick Riordan officiating. Visitation will be from 10-11:45 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Mary’s Parish Hall in Kickapoo. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Kickapoo. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to OSF St. Joseph Hospice in Bloomington or St. Mary’s Church in Kickapoo. Tributes and condolences may be submitted to www.wrightandsalmon.com
