Obituary for Gayle C. Rogy
Gayle C. Rogy, age 88, passed away peacefully at her home in her sleep on Thursday, December 29, 2022.
Gayle was born on November 19, 1934 in Joliet, IL a daughter of Eugene and Lyda (Bretzlaff) Nelson. She married Donald E. “Gene” Rogy on August 22, 1953 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on July 3, 2005.
Gayle is survived by her six sons, Mike (Lisa) of Torrance, CA, Dan (Gina) of San Jose, CA, Tim (Linda) of Colorado Springs, CO, Robert (Tiffany Swearingen) of Peoria, John of Peoria and Jim (Amanda) of Marquette Heights, as well as 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Gayle was a graduate of Academy of Our Lady in 1951 and still loved getting together with her classmates for lunches. Gayle and Gene were long time members of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
A special thanks, from the family, to Apple for the loving care and commitment she gave mom this last year.
Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 10:30 AM at St. Thomas Church, with a one hour prior visitation. Fr. Achileus Tegamaisho will officiate and burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Peoria.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, the Illinois Chapter.
