Obituary for Frieda Haddad Abdnour
Peoria- Frieda Haddad Abdnour, 99, of Peoria, passed away peacefully at her home with her children at her side on Sunday, November 5, 2017.
Frieda was born October 29, 1918 in Peoria. She married Ralph Abdnour in 1946 and they had 7 children. They opened a grocery store in Streator, IL., where they made their home, until Ralph passed in February, 1964. Frieda then moved her family back to Peoria, where she was born and raised.
Frieda opened Aunt Frieda’s Deli in Haddad’s Grocery Store, was a proud member of the St. Bernard’s Women’s Club, volunteered at the Immaculate Conception Convent, and was a loyal volunteer at the Komen Center for 19 years.
Frieda’s family was her life. She enjoyed cooking and baking for them and became well known in Peoria for her cooking talents. Frieda was happiest when she was with her children. She continued to be part of their lives and loved seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow.
Surviving Frieda, are her five sons; Louis, Joseph (Chris), Ralph, Tom (Brigid) and Frank (Donna), and her two daughters; Cathy Abdnour and Louise (Norm) Hodge, 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Fred Haddad, her nephew, Robert Haddad and her niece, Carol Gardula.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 Noon, Thursday, November 9, 2017 with a visitation beginning at 9:00 AM until time of Mass at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church. Fr. James Pankiewicz will officiate. Cremation Rites have been accorded.
