Obituary for Fredric A. Darche, Jr.
Fredric Arsene Darche, Jr., 71, of Peoria Heights, passed away peacefully at 11:49 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2022, in Peoria.
Fred was born in Peoria, Illinois on January 31, 1951 to Fred and Lucille (Coens) Darche. He attended St. Philomena Grade School, Bergan High School, Illinois Central College and then went on to Steamfitter Local 353 Trade School. In October 1973, he met the love of his life, Rebecca Sue Bennett and later married on October 9. 1976. She survives, along with their 2 daughters, Angela Darche of Peoria and Kara (Kip) Edwards of West Fargo, North Dakota and their son Fred Darche III of O’Fallon, IL.
Also surviving are his 2 sisters Patricia Burwell of Pekin, IL and Jeanne Droege of Peoria, IL; brother, Stephen Darche of Peoria, IL; and 4 grandchildren Abigail (14), Isabel (12), Sophia (7), and Jameson (4).
Fred was known by many as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He often referred to his grandchildren “as his angels” and was always there for anyone that needed a helping hand.
Fred was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and served the church and school for over 30 years. He was a talented wood worker, and took pride in his home, always finding a new project. Fred enjoyed traveling and morning coffee with his friends, the McDonald’s group. One of his proud moments was receiving his 50-year pin, serving as a Steamfitter for Local 353. He will be cherished and missed by many.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM with Recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 PM on Monday, June 6, 2022 at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with a half hour prior visitation. Msgr. Jason Gray will officiate. Burial will be at St. Mary of Lourdes Cemetery in Germantown Hills.
Memorials may be made to St. Thomas Catholic Grade School.
