Obituary for Frank John Scherbing
Peoria- Frank John Scherbing, 67 of Peoria, passed away at 9:02 AM on Oct. 21, 2016 at Liberty Village Manor Care.
Born March 13, 1949 in Oak Park, Illinois to Frank John Scherbing Sr and Mildred M (MacGregor) Scherbing. He is survived by his very dear, long-time companion Margaret Cora Sula.
Also surviving are three children: Alexander L. Scherbing of Richmond Virginia, Marie C. (Joey) Gibson of Holland Michigan and Laura E. Scherbing of Peoria, and six grandchildren: Hailey Breymeier, Peoria; Ethan Scherbing, Richmond VA; and Elliott, Sam, Claire and Amelia Gibson, all of Holland Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Patricia Stein.
He was a US Airforce veteran serving in Texas, Michigan, Korea and North Dakota from 1967-1971. He then attended Southern Illinois University graduating summa cum laude in 1974. He began work in 1974 at Caterpillar Inc. in parts sales marketing dealer training. He then had numerous management positions as a Product Support Marketing Field Representative, Dealer Administration Representative calling on dealer principles in the western US and then as a manager of domestic and then international customer part sales for the rest of his Cat career. His customer and dealer work spanned the world. He worked with international accounts and large and small customers where he focused on supportive relationships to build increased filtration products and fluid sales. He retired from Cat in February 2009.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church. Father James Pallardy will officiate. Internment of ashes will be held at a later date. A celebration of life will be held one half hour following the mass at the Pere Marquette, 501 Main Street, in Peoria.
