Obituary for Frank A. Lang

PEORIA-Frank A. Lang, 83, of Peoria, passed away at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, November 19, 2010, at OSF Saint Clare Home in Peoria Heights. He was born on July 27, 1927, in Chicago, to Frank O. and Gladyce Schuhmacher Lang. He married Jeanne Waninger on September 22, 1951, in Peoria. She survives. Frank is also survived by two sons, Eric Lang and David Lang both of Peoria; two daughters, Mary Lang of Peoria Heights and Amy Lang of Chicago; and one granddaughter, Amanda Carmichael of Longmont, CO. He was preceded in death by two sisters/ He first worked at Pabst Brewery for 35 years, last working as Assistant Brewmaster at Heilemann Brewing Co. in Belleville, IL for 5 years. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. Frank was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Spalding Council #427, Third Degree, Sand Trappers and a former member of Knights of Columbus Bowling League. He was an avid fisherman and a lifelong Chicago Cub and Chicago Bear fan. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 22, 2010, at St. Bernard Church with Rev. Christopher Layden officiating. Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday at Wright & Salmon Mortuary and 30 minutes before the Mass at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in West Peoria. Memorial contributions may be made to Knights of Columbus, Spalding Council #427, Third Degree, St. Bernard Church or OSF Saint Clare Home.
