Obituary for Frank A. Katus Jr.
Frank A. Katus, Jr. passed away peacefully with his family at his side at 9:40 p.m. Thursday November 10, 2016 at Manor Court of Liberty Village of Peoria.

He was born January 26, 1922, in Peoria, the middle son of Frank and Marie (Turner) Katus, Sr. They preceded him in death, along with his brother and sister-in-law Jacque and Betty Katus, brother Wayne Katus, special sister-in-law Ann Zorzi, and son-in-law Bob Grant.

Frank married Betty Zorzi in Peoria on November 26, 1949. She survives, along with their three daughters, Susan Grant of Peoria, Barbara Katus of Philadelphia and Deborah Katus of New York City. Also surviving are his sister-in-law Olga Katus and a number of nieces and nephews, as well as their children and grandchildren.

Frank graduated from Woodruff High School in 1939. He worked as a photolithographer before enlisting in the Army Air Forces Bombardier Training School in Midland, TX. In May, 1945, because of his civilian work experience, he was assigned to Honolulu to work in Layout and Production for “Brief” Magazine, the official publication of the Army Air Forces in the Pacific Ocean Areas. He was honorably discharged on February 1, 1946.

Upon his return to Peoria from overseas, Frank continued his career in the graphic arts field at Caterpillar, where he met Betty . He then worked 17 years for Davidson Sales and Service Agency in Peoria, during which time he installed graphic arts equipment in over 70 cities in Illinois and Iowa. He spent the final 23 years of his career with Bradner Smith & Co. Paper Distributors.

A life-long sports fan, he was happy to learn his Chicago Cubs had just won the World Series after 108 years.

Frank’s family is profoundly grateful to the dedicated staff and caregivers at Liberty Village and Harbor Light Hospice.

Frank and Betty attended Holy Family Catholic Church for over 40 years. A private family Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, November 14, 2016 at Resurrection Mausoleum Chapel in Peoria, followed by entombment there. Franciscan Friars will officiate.
