Obituary for Francisco (Frank) J. Serrano

Peoria – Francisco J Serrano, 61, passed away on Monday, December 21, 2020 at his residence.

Frank was born on October 26, 1959 in Peoria, Illinois, the beloved son of Jose and Dolores Serrano.

Surviving are his son, Richard Jose (Richie) of Peoria; daughter Marcile Dolores (Marcy) of Peoria; sister Maria (Mary) Serrano of Peoria; former wife Jolene Peters (Luker) of Peoria; cousins in Mexico City, Mexico; and best canine bud, Weber Delfigalo.

Frank graduated from Manual High School in Peoria in 1977. He went on to graduate from the Police Academy in Springfield, IL. This led to his start in Law Enforcement with City of Peoria Police Department. Frank later joined Peoria District 150 and served as sergeant and Resource Officer for over 20 years. He was dedicated to the care of his students, whether cracking jokes, giving life advice, or just being there to listen, he would always leave students with a smile on their faces.

Frank’s greatest joys in life were his children, Chicago Cubs, Harley Davidson, and cooking his famous enchiladas, especially at Christmas. He was a devoted father taking great pride and joy in his children’s accomplishments. He spent much of his time at the softball fields coaching, keeping score, and cheering players on to victory.

He was a member of St. Philomena Catholic Church in Peoria. His faith was very important to him; a legacy handed down by his loving and devoted parents and sister. Seeing to it by becoming an active member in the church which laid the foundation for the kind of man, brother, and parent he would become.

Frank was a hardworking, kind, gentle-hearted man who touched the lives of many individuals. He was always willing to help anyone in need whether it be family, friends, or strangers. Frank’s final wish would be to remember him in happy memories, forgive his failings, and to share love and kindness with anyone and everyone.

Frank is preceded in death by his parents Jose and Dolores Serrano
