Obituary for Frances M. Yakoff

PEORIA-Frances M. Yakoff, 89, of Peoria, died at 2:35 p.m. on Sunday, October 26, 2009 at OSF Saint Clare Home in Peoria Heights, where she was cared for with great love and dignity. She was born on February 12, 1920 in Lovilla, Iowa to George and Angelina Gregory. She married George F. Yakoff, Jr. on September 23, 2939 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Peoria. He passed away on October 12, 2008 in Peoria. Surviving are her daughter, Vickie (Dan) Dickerson of Dunlap, IL; two grandsons, Greg (Carolyn) Dickerson and Brian (Julie) Dickerson both of Peoria; and four great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy (Merle) Graffis of Pekin and many sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ernie, Al and John Gregory and two sisters, Joanne Mahieu and Eva Splinter. She was a graduate of Manual High School in Peoria. She was a beautician prior to becoming a full time homemaker. She had a great joy and love of painting, creating many works for us to enjoy. She was a member of Saint Ann’s Church in Peoria. She was also active in the Fraternal Order of Eagles, serving on the Drill Team and Bowling Team for numerous years. She was also a member of the Peoria Area Blind Center. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at St. Ann Church with Rev. Terry Cassidy officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in West Peoria. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Ann Church.
