Obituary for Frances Ann Schwenger
Peoria- Frances Ann Schwenger, age 93, passed away at 8:35 PM, on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Hawthorne Inn at Liberty Village in Peoria.
Born December 1, 1923 to Edward J. and Olive K. (Schlink) Kelly in Minonk, IL. She married Lawrence E. Schwenger in Portsmouth, Virginia on June 5, 1943. He preceded her in death on January 9, 2009.
Frances is survived by three children; Lawrence (Kathleen) Schwenger Jr. of Peoria, Victoria A. (Roger) Doman of Naperville, and Mary Jean Auer of Peoria, six grandchildren; Matthew (Lisa) Doman of Glen Ellyn, Michael (Tara) Doman of Oswego, Kevin (Stephanie) Schwenger of Middleton, WI., Katie Schwenger of Peoria, Joshua (Holly) Auer of East Peoria, and Erin (Jeffrey) D’ Achino of Happy Valley, OR., and eight great-grandchildren; Ethan, Jacob, Andrew, Mallory, Laurel, Levi, Rocco, and Bella. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Kathryn Moran, brother Joseph Kelly and sister Jane Yoches.
Frances worked for the city of Peoria for 19 years. From September 1, 1981 to May 5, 1985, she served as the Peoria City Clerk and Peoria Township Clerk until her retirement in May 1985. She was a member of the Illinois Municipal Clerks Association, Township Clerks Association and the League of Municipal Employees. An avid golfer, Frances was a member of the Willow Knolls Ladies’ Golf League and the Peoria Cancer Golf League. Frances was a lifetime member of St. Philomena Catholic Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at St. Philomena Catholic Church with visitation one hour prior, also at the church. Father David Richardson will officiate. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Easter Seals, or Heartland Community Health Clinic.
