Obituary for Elizabeth J. Danz

PEORIA-Elizabeth J. “Betty” Danz, 84, of Ottawa and formerly of Peoria, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2009 at her home. Betty was born June 21, 1924 in Peoria to Grover and Mary Auer Ball. She married Rudolf C. Danz on August 30, 1941 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on August 22, 1992 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Donald Ball, one sister, Bernice Adkins, one grandson, Gregory Potter and an infant daughter, Carla Danz. She is survived by three daughters, Darlene (James) Potter of Los Alamos, New Mexico, Sue Ann Danz of Peoria, IL and Donna Moline of Ottawa. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one great great-granddaughter, many nieces and nephews, three sisters, Hazel Lindee of Roanoke, Joanne (Arthur) Scott of East Peoria and Jeanette Rymer of Jerseyville, and one brother, Lyle (Lydia) Ball of Peoria. Betty was a homemaker and a member of St. Columbia Catholic Church in Ottawa and Ottawa Women of the Moose Lodge #522. Her favorite pastimes were playing bingo, listening to oldies but goodies music, baking and cooking for her family. She also enjoyed walking and hiking the trails of Starved Rock with her dog of 16 years, Lopsey Girl, who also survives her. A Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Peoria Heights with Msgr. William Watson officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Monday at Wright & Salmon Mortuary with recitation of the rosary at 6:45 p.m. Additional visitation will be 30 minutes before the mass at the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in West Peoria. Tributes and condolences may be submitted to www.wrightandsalmon.com
