Obituary for Elizabeth J. Beer
Elizabeth J. Beer, 94, of Peoria, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2022, at Proctor Endowment Home.
Born June 26, 1927 in Passaic, NJ., to Col. William E. and Mabel Morrow McGuire, she married Col. Arthur O. Beer on June 9, 1951 in Falls Church, VA and together they cherished 53 years until his passing on March 30, 2005. One granddaughter Angela, and one brother also preceded her in death.
Surviving are three children, Beverly (Marty) Stenoish of Germantown Hills, Dr. Robert (Carol) Beer of Cuero, TX., and Barbara (Craig) Williams of Springfield, Il., 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren also survive.
Elizabeth was a Secretary at the Federal Reserve for 5 years. She was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, active in it’s Altar and Rosary Society, Holy Family Parrish’s Altar and Rosary Society, Girl Scouts, Easter Seals, Peoria Garden Club, where she was president. Elizabeth was a Master Gardner, accredited to judge national floral competitions. She loved Hostas and was a longtime member of the Hosta Society. Elizabeth also loved skiing and golfing, having played in three golf leagues well into her 80’s.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 from 9:30 AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Father Stephen Willard will officiate, and cremation rites will follow mass. Elizabeth’s cremains will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
Memorials in Elizabeth’s memory may be made to Easter Seals or St. Vincent DePaul Church.
