Obituary for Eleanor Shane
WEST PEORIA~ Eleanor R. Shane, 89, of West Peoria, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at UnityPoint Health-Methodist in Peoria.
Eleanor was born on July 13, 1933 in the family home in Kickapoo, IL to Joseph and Clara (Hageman) Wagner. She married Russell E. Shane on May 3, 1952 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kickapoo. He preceded her in death on March 21, 2006.
She is survived by one daughter, Vicky (Merle) Turner of Brimfield; one son, Paul R. (Veronica) Shane of Brownsville, Texas; seven grandchildren, Meghan (Andrew) Smith of Peoria, Becky (Justin) Montgomery of Bloomington, Paul A. (Kathrine) Shane of New Braunfels, Texas, Jacqueline (Tristan) Sitz of New Braunfels, Texas, Andres, Alexander and Max Shane of Brownsville, Texas; fifteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Leroy, Melvin, Jerome and Dale Wagner; and five sisters, Lourdes Bieneman, Velda Gavin, Martha Coleman, Kolleen King and Mardell Bleichner.
Eleanor was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kickapoo, where a Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 2, 2022. Father Jim Pankiewicz will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Kickapoo.
Memorial contributions may be given to the West Peoria Fire Department, St. Mary’s School of Kickapoo or to St. Mary’s Church of Kickapoo.
