Obituary for Eldon J. Waldron

Eldon J. Waldron, 96, of Peoria, IL., passed away at 12:40 am on Sunday, September 17, 2017.

Born August 27, 1921 in Peoria to Edward Errol Waldron and Mary Bridget Fleming, he married Charlotte Rogene Garver, the love of his life, on November 13, 1947. They were married 57 years until her passing on March 7, 2004.

Surviving are one son, James (Diane) Waldron of Ft. Myers, FL; two daughters, Lynn (Robert) Koller of Chillicothe, and Renee Parker of Peoria; eight grandchildren, Christie Guthrie, Cory Waldron, Molly Cox, Colleen Waldron, Katie Parker, Ashley Lauber, Kelly Koller, and Daniel Parker; thirteen great grandchildren, Kylsea Cox, Ella Waldron, Bryce Guthrie, Mia Waldron, Brianna Guthrie, Carly Cox, Conner Waldron, Cooper Cox, Cameron Lauber, Kipton Lauber, Emmy Cox, Hadley Lauber and Ruby Cox.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son, John, his wife Charlotte (Jean), and his sister Marol Travers.

He lived for his family and gave thanks everyday.

The family wants to express their sincere gratitude to his compassionate care givers, Chelsea and Tina.

He was employed for fifty- two years by the Peoria Union Stock Yards Company, retiring as president in 1992. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, a member of The Disabled American Veterans Commanders Club, and was director for over 40 years and a past president for the Heart of Illinois Fair.

He was a veteran of WWII, rank of sergeant, serving from 1942 to 1945, Army Medical Corp., in the Aleutian Islands.

Eldon was a charter member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, where a Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at 10:30 am. Fr. Thomas Taylor will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass at the church. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Alzheimer’s Research Association, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, or St. Vincent de Paul Church.
