Obituary for Eilleen Marie Colgan

Peoria- Eilleen Marie Colgan, age 98, formerly of Kewanee, IL., passed away peacefully, Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Lutheran Hillside Village in Peoria, IL.

Eilleen was born June 3, 1919 in Sheffield, IL., a daughter of Emil L. and Pearl C. (Jones) Wilt. She was formerly married to Harold P. Colgan, deceased in May of 2001.

Eilleen is survived by two daughters: Patricia Ann (Dr. Stephen) Cullinan of Peoria and Theresa Colgan Heidrich of Chicago, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Meredith Brignadello Nelson and her husband Phillip Nelson, their children, William and Katherine of Chicago, IL., Meghan Elizabeth Brignadello, her children Connor and Olivia of Dunlap, IL.; Carolyn Heidrich Ziebarth and her husband Christopher Ziebarth and their children Clara and Charles of Old Greenwich, CT., William Pindell Heidrich II and his wife Catherine Chang Heidrich of San Francisco, CA., and Peter McCabe Heidrich of New York, NY.; her sister, Barbara (Daniel) Zalewski of Kewanee and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son-in-law Harold “Denny” Brignadello; her sisters Katherine Cinnamon and Lorraine Brubaker; brothers William and Lawrence Wilt.
Eilleen’s loving family was the center of her life and she was a devoted mother and grandmother who will be truly missed.

Eilleen graduated from Bradford High School. She was employed by J.C. Penney Department Store, Bracken’s, and ended her working career after 27 years at St. John Paul II Parish (formerly St. Mary’s Parish) in Kewanee, IL.

She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Peoria Heights, St. Mary’s Parish and the Altar and Rosary Society in Kewanee. Eilleen was an active resident at Lutheran Hillside Village where she enjoyed Bingo, was a skilled card player, and a member of the 2007 Country Line Dance Team who were awarded a Gold Medal in the Heart of Illinois Senior Olympics.

Eilleen’s family extends a heartfelt thank you to Lutheran Hillside Village and OSF Hospice for their exceptional care.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 21, 2017 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Peoria Heights. There will be a recitation of the Rosary at 9:00 AM with a visitation from 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM at St. Thomas Catholic Church. Father George Remm will be the celebrant and Msgr. Jason Gray will concelebrate. Graveside Service will be at 3:30 PM in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Kewanee, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Eilleen’s name may be made to Lutheran Hillside Village, OSF Hospice, or St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
