Obituary for Edward L. Russell
Peoria- Edward L. Russell, age 91, of Peoria, IL., passed away at 8:30 AM, Sunday, July 23, 2017 at Rosewood Care Center of Peoria.
Edward was born December 5, 1925 in Lebanon, KS to Verl and Inez (Fitzgerald) Russell. He married Velma Broaddus on October 10, 1953 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Peoria Heights. She preceded him in death on December 28, 2011.
Surviving are two sons; Stephen (Jacquelyn) Russell of Morton, and Kevin Russell of Peoria, one step-son, Phillip Fuller of Lawrence, KS., one sister, Thelma Hays of Medford, OR., along with four nieces.
Edward was preceded in death by his wife, parents, step-mother, two brothers and a step-brother.
Edward graduated from Lebanon High School in Lebanon, KS., in 1942. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1944-1946, stationed in the South Pacific. Edward then attended Bradley University, graduating in 1951. After that, he worked at Caterpillar Tractor Co. in Peoria in the NACD regional Sales Department for 38 years, retiring in 1989.
He was a member of St. Philomena Catholic Church, the Men’s Club of St. Philomena and the Caterpillar Bowling League. Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, July 28, 2017 at Resurrection Mausoleum Chapel, with a half hour prior visitation. Fr. David Richardson will officiate and burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
