Obituary for Edward J. Tallon Jr.
Peoria- Edward J. Tallon Jr., age 77, passed away Monday, September 26, 2016 in Peoria, IL.
Edward was born on November 30, 1938, in Canton, IL , a son of Mary (Caruso) and Edward J. Tallon Sr. He was class president and graduate of St. Bede High School in 1956. Ed graduated from St. Ambrose University in 1960 with a bachelors degree in accounting. He owned and operated Peoria Hydramatic for 26 years. Ed was a member of Sacred Heart Church, where he served all funeral masses, lectored, was a trustee at the church, and also a Eucharistic minister. He was a Little League and basketball coach for many years. Ed was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who was very active in the community and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include four sons; Edward (Ellen) Tallon of Peoria, IL, Michael Tallon of Peoria, IL, Christopher (Monique) Tallon of Chesapeake, VA, and Philip (Heather) Tallon of Seminole, FL, seven grandchildren, one great-grandson, four sisters; Grace Youngman of Mossville, IL, Joanne (Harold) Rock of East Peoria, Mary (Terry) Doyle of West Peoria, IL, and Elizabeth Wertz of Spring Valley, IL, and many nieces and nephews.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Dorothy M. “Tinker” (Schrodt) who he married in Canton, IL on July 15, 1961.
Visitation will be Friday, September 30, 2016 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Wright and Salmon Mortuary and a half hour prior to the Funeral Mass. Rosary recitation will begin at 6:45 PM. Funeral Mass will be at Sacred Heart Church in Peoria, IL at 9:30 AM Saturday, October 1, 2016. Msgr. Stanley Deptula will be officiating. Entombment will be at Resurrection Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ed‘s name may be made to St. Bede Academy, 24 W. US Highway 6, Peoria, IL 61354.
