Obituary for Edward Ing
Peoria- Edward “Red” Ing, age 91, of Peoria, passed away at 4:40 AM on Saturday, September 02, 2017 surrounded by his family at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home.
Edward was born December 11, 1925 in Peoria. On August 26, 1957 he married his best friend and love of his life Mary “Louise” Levi at St. Philomena Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on January 18, 2012. Edward honorably served in the United States Navy during WWII. He worked at OSF Medical Center in distribution for the dietary department for 38 years until his retirement in 1991. Edward and Mary joined St. Thomas parish in 1964 where they regularly attended 6:30 AM Mass on Sunday.
He enjoyed working in the yard, gardening, and listening to music especially Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, The Eagles, and Rod Stewart. Edward was a lifelong Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals, and Chicago Bulls Fan. One of his favorite past times was playing Aggravation and Rummy with his family. Edward was a loving father and grandfather whose greatest enjoyment was being with his family, spending time with his grandchildren, especially his great-granddaughter Isabelle. He was truly loved and will be deeply missed.
Survivors include two children, Willis (Fiancé Lori) Ing of Peoria Heights and Ellen (Roger) Umdenstock of Peoria; five grandchildren, Stephanie Crouch, Brandy (Josh) Wright, Kadie Ing, Angela Umdenstock, and Timothy Umdenstock; as well as, two great-grandchildren, Caidyn Crouch and Isabelle Wright.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents, wife Louise, and one brother Eugene.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 07, 2017 between the hours on 5:00 PM till 7:00 PM at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Friday, September 08, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St. Thomas Catholic Church. An additional visitation will be held one hour prior to mass. Father Paul Stark will officiate and burial with military honors will follow in Parkview Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. George Gilbert, Dr.Sutter, the hospital staff at OSF, and the staff at Richard L. Owens Hospice Home. Their kindness and excellent care is deeply appreciated by his family.
