Obituary for Edith Curl McMillan

PEORIA-Edith Curl McMillan, 89 of Peoria, passed away at 7:58 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at her residence. She was born on January 1, 1919 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Dr. Charles and Edith LeFevre Curl. She married John L. McMillan on October 25, 1941 in Peoria. He passed away on February 27, 2003 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, John and Charles, and one grandchild, Travis McMillan. She is survived by two daughters, Diane (George) Keller of Peoria and Kathleen (Charles) Scachette of East Peoria; two sons, Michael (Suzanne) McMillan of Peoria and Charles (Donna) McMillan of Ellsworth, IL; ten grandchildren, Kimberly Mitrenga, Michael Graham, Jennifer Kuperman, Joseph McMillan, Lynne McMillan, Nathan McMillan, Kristin Scachette, Nicholas, Scachette, John Keller and Tony Scachette; 10 great-grandchildren, Brett Mitrenga, Michael Travis Graham, Sarah Kuperman, Grace Kuperman, Maura McMillan, Michael Steven McMillan, Noelle McMillan, Shaylee Scachette, Samantha Scachette and Danny Fleming; one brother, Joseph (Jan) Curl of Long Boat Key, FL and one sister, Sister Mary Charlene Curl of Farmington Hills, MI. She was a graduate of OSF St. Francis School of Nursing in 1939. Edith was a Private Duty Registered Nurse and later worked at OSF St. Francis Medical Center for 30 years until she retired. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, OSF Senior Saints and a former member of Arrowhead Country Club. Edith loved playing golf, bridge and traveling to Europe. She was a breast cancer survivor. A Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at St. Vincent de Paul Church with Rev. Donald Roszkowski officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the mass at the church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
