Obituary for Dr. Charles H. Williams, DDS

PEORIA-Dr. Charles “Charlie” H. Williams, DDS, 84 of Peoria, passed away at 6:26 a.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2007 at his residence. Born on June 27, 1923 in Evanston, IL to William “Bill” and Margaret Bracegirdle Williams. He married Dorothy Babcock. She preceded him in death. Surviving are three sons, Rick (Pam) Williams of Bemidji, MN, Dave Williams of Metamora and Bob (Angie) Williams of Peoria; one daughter, Cathy (Jim) Hanamean of Parrish, FL; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and a special friend, Cathy Beharelle of Peoria. Dr. Williams graduated from Northwestern and Northwestern Dental School. He began his practice in 1947 and was a self-employed dentist and practiced dentistry and consulting for 54 years, retiring in 1988. For 25 years, he was a dental consultant for Caterpillar’s dental benefits program, which he helped develop. He was a past president of the Peoria Dental Society and he was instrumental in having fluoride added to Illinois drinking water. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of Mensa and past member of the Country Club of Peoria, the Elks, Knights of Columbus, Spalding School Board and he attended St. Philomena Catholic Church. He enjoyed golf, cards, bowling, crossword puzzles, music, photography and spending time with family and friends. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at St. Philomena Church with Rev. Donald Henderson officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum.
